EDUCATION SUPPORT STAFF

Lidie Atwood

Education Assistant (SAER)

I commenced working at HillSide in 2007 and initially worked with the team in the ECE as a Kindergarten Teachers’ Assistant in the 3 and 4 year old programme.

I work in the Learning Support Unit (the Learning Den) in the Primary School as well as a supporting role in the Year 7 Maths programme in the Secondary School. Both my daughters attended the Primary School and I also served as the Parent Liason Officer on the School Board for nine years. I obtained my Cert III in Education Support in 2008 and was recently nominated on the WAATA committee in 2018 – Western Australian Assistant Teachers’ Association.

I consider it to be a tremendous privilege to be part of the students’ educational journey here at HillSide. I always hope to achieve a supportive learning environment in the Learning Den. Working with students who need extra support in their learning is a very rewarding role and I believe that the Lord has given each student unique gifts and talents, which I see every day.

The best part of my role is to watch the children develop into capable and confident learners.

Kate Krekos

Education Assistant (SAER)

I started working at Hillside Christian College in 2019 as a Teacher Assistant in the 4-year-old Kindergarten class. I currently work in the learning support unit in the primary school in which I particularly enjoy helping children with maths and reading. I started studying a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at Edith Cowan University in 2019, and I have completed a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Care. I strive to make learning enjoyable and try to tailor my teaching to each student’s preferred way of learning so they can achieve to the best of their ability. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach and walking.

It is a blessing to be apart of your children’s lives as they grow in faith with God, and an honour to work within such a wonderful school community.

Amanda Manning

Education Assistant (Kindergarten)

I am the Teachers’ Assistant in the 4 year old Kindergarten class working three days a week. I have also worked in Pre-Primary. I have worked at HillSide for nine years. I have a Certificate III in Education Assistant.

I am passionate about working with children and watching them grow and learn. In my spare time, I like to read and travel.

HillSide is a great community.

Christine Moro

Education Assistant (Kindergarten)

I am Christine Moro, happily married to Anthony and mum to three teenagers. I’m currently employed at Hillside as the Kindergarten Education Assistant. I have completed Certificates  III and IV in Education Support and the Edith Cowan University Education Assistant Program.

I have over 20 years experience working as an education assistant in both Christian and Government schools. Over the years I have had the privilege of serving in my church in various positions including Head of the toddlers church and more recently as a Playgroup Coordinator.

As an education assistant I endeavour make learning a fun experience for all children.

Christine Travers

Teacher Aide

I am an Education Assistant who has had the privilege of working at HillSide Christian College since 2009. With my Certificate III of Teacher Assistance, I have had many and varied roles at the college. Currently, I divide my time between the SAER classroom, supporting students in small learning groups, as well as the college Library.

I love working with children, seeing them progress through their education at HillSide. I love reading in my spare time and sharing the importance of reading with the students when they visit the Library.

My other interests are cooking and keeping fit. It is wonderful to be a staff member of the Christ-centred school community at HillSide.

Sharon Zuiddam

Science Technician

I have had the privilege of being part of the HillSide family since 2010. First as a parent, then parent helper. I then started as the schools Science Technician in 2016. My background is Biological Sciences and Environmental Management, focusing on insects and spiders, though I also enjoy Physics, Geomorphology and Botany.

With my love of being outdoors I soon became involved in the Outdoor Education program as well. Being a part of Outdoor Education allows me to share the experience of God’s Creation with students, whilst also sharing with them my sciences background.

Seeing the students grow from, “I can’t do that” to, “let’s do it again” is one of the biggest rewards of my position, both in Science and Outdoor Education.

My relationship with Christ is very important to me and this is nurtured by HillSide, where students relationships with Christ are also nurtured and explored. My involvement with the Anglican Church over the last 17 plus years sees me in many roles within my parish.

I am now studying again, enabling me to chat with the students regarding their study, homework and exams, as I work through my Graduate Diploma of Theology.
