    STEPHEN LAMONT

    College Principal

I have been an educator for over 30 years and enjoy my role in assisting students to develop their potential both academically and spiritually. I am blessed to have served HillSide since 2009. I really enjoy working here.

I commenced teacher training in the late eighties at WACAE (now ECU) and achieved a B.A. (Primary Education). During my teacher training, I took time away from my studies and worked in a behaviour management centre. This was invaluable because it gave me an insight into child development and the practicalities of teaching.

Upon completion of my degree, I worked for three years in remote Aboriginal schools. I returned to Perth and taught in a government primary school. In 1998, I received my first promotion to the role of Principal of a country school. I was then successfully appointed to a Deputy Principal’s position in Perth. In 2008, I resigned from the government, and travelled to England where I worked as a teacher in London. I then returned to Australia, and completed a Master of Education in educational leadership in 2009.

Working at HillSide has been a pleasure. It is a role that I cherish and take very seriously. If I can lead children into a deeper relationship with God, help them to grow in all aspects of learning, support staff to work effectively together, and serve the College community, I will be very pleased.

    KIM TURTON

    Deputy Principal (Secondary)

I have been involved with Christian education for more than 34 years and I have held various positions across five different Christian schools over these years. As a teacher, I have been blessed to learn from my peers and those in leadership, and I still do.

I have been Deputy Principal of primary, Deputy of a primary and secondary school and Principal of a primary school. My position here at HillSide is a blessing to me as I am able to use my experience and skills gained over many years to contribute towards the growth as I am lead by God each day.

I hold a Diploma of Primary Teaching and a Graduate Diploma in Christian Educational Studies. Prior to taking up my first teaching position in 1984, I have held various positions within the workforce, however, the position I enjoyed the most was being a member of the Western Australian Police Force.

HillSide is a College that makes a strong stand for Christ in the education sector and I feel privileged to be called to serve the staff, families and students at a time such as this, in this place.

    REBECCA MARR

    Deputy Principal (Primary)

I have been at HillSide since 1999 (with the exception of a few years off to have my daughter). I first came to HillSide, then known as Forrestfield Christian Primary School, as a practice teacher in my last year of teaching at Edith Cowan University. I instantly felt at home and fell in love, with not only the beautiful natural surroundings, but also with the Christ-centred community of staff and families.

I hold a Bachelor of Education (Primary) with a specialisation in children with special needs. I am hugely passionate about Christian education and in building Christ-centred Christian communities. I love teaching and I am constantly amazed at how children learn, develop and grow. I love seeing God work in the lives of people in our school and love celebrating students’ accomplishments and spiritual growth. I believe all children can learn and that each child is created with unique gifts and talents.

During my time at HillSide, I have taught in various positions across the Early Childhood and Primary. I have also been the SAER and Curriculum coordinator and I am currently privileged to be in the Deputy Principal position. Working at HillSide is an absolute pleasure – it is not just a workplace, but a family, and one I am honoured to be in.
